Napanee’s Riley Manion was among 11 athletes selected as core players to Softball Canada’s U23 Men’s National Team.
These players will represent Team Canada at the U23 WBSC Men’s Softball 2023 World Cup, played April 15-23, in Parana, Argentina.
Manion pitched for the Owen Sound Selects last summer, helping them to a silver finish at the U23 Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championships.
As per the U23 Men’s National Team Selection Criteria, the coaching staff will select the remaining athletes by March 1 to form its 16 athlete World Cup roster.
Team Canada was awarded a wild card spot in December to participate in the tournament and will join the 11 other countries who qualified for the event through continental qualifiers held in 2022.
