The Town of Greater Napanee is seeking feedback from the community regarding the configuration of the Centre Street Boat Launch area located along the Napanee River in downtown Napanee.

Residents may consider, for example, providing input surrounding general site improvements, ideas for enhancing current amenities and/or adding features to support tourism and thoughts on short-term and long-term options in their public comments.

The Problem: The current configuration of the Centre Street Boat Launch area does not provide a reasonable service level for members of the Greater Napanee community. The municipal parking lot/launch area is in dire need of capital investment and is limiting the Town’s ability to move forward with promoting the prestige waterfront area. From limited access to waterfront, to unorganized municipal parking, current conditions of the Centre Street Boat Launch area do not meet the needs of residents nor enable tourism initiatives in general.

The Goal: To create an inclusive, sustainable and shared public space:

• Inclusive: considers those with accessibility needs;

• Sustainable: considers future growth of the Town; maintenance and enforcement efforts are realistic and accounted for;

• Shared: considers public and private interests. Maximizes space and traffic flow for boaters, recreational water users and restaurant patrons. Considers pedestrian safety and flow.

How Residents Can Help: Residents are encouraged to submit public comments, concerns, questions and ideas for an ideal boat launch/parking area that will benefit the needs of the entire community. Staff will be considering all received public comments as part of the final report to Council for a proposed layout for the Centre Street Boat Launch area. Online Public Consultation: Residents can provide public feedback on the Centre Street Boat Launch Community Consultation page at Let’s Talk Greater Napanee, www.letstalkgreaternapanee.ca. Background information, past reports to Council and additional resources are available on this page as well. Accessibility & Alternative Accommodations: The Town will make every attempt to accommodate those who may have limited internet access or accessibility needs. Accommodations and alternative formats will be made available for those who cannot submit comment online. If you, or someone you know, requires assistance, please contact Nathan Murphy at the contact information below to arrange for an alternative method of communications.

Those wishing to have an in-person meeting with staff can request a meeting through Nathan Murphy at 613-776-1239 or nmurphy@greaternapanee.com. Staff will continue to update the public on timelines for this project, including the final report to Council and the start date for redevelopment. The Town thanks its residents for contributing feedback to this project. The public consultation period is open until Monday, February 28, 2022.
