Report: KFLA’s Dr. Kieran Moore to be named Ontario’s chief medical officer of health

Ontario chief medical officer of health Dr. Kieran Moore.

According to Bruce Arthur of the Toronto Star, KFLA Public Health medical officer of health Dr. Kieran Moore is expected to be promoted to Ontario’s chief medical officer of health on Monday.

The Star cites several unnamed sources with knowledge of the move who were unauthorized to speak on the matter who say Moore will replace Ontario’s current chief medical officer of health, Dr. David Williams.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is reportedly expected to make an announcement on Monday.

Moore has received praise both locally and abroad throughout the pandemic, helping to guide KFLA to generally much lower rates of COVID-19 cases while the region has seen some of the highest vaccinated rates in the province. He’s also been noted for his constant and consistent messaging throughout the pandemic, holding weekly Skype calls with local media.

Moore has recently spoke highly of the Ontario government’s recent re-opening strategy, calling it very ‘data driven.’

More on this report is expected early next week.
