The Napanee Raiders will get an early litmus test for their revamped lineup next week, as they get set for a home-and-home exhibition series with the 2018 Schmalz Cup champion Lakefield Chiefs.
Napanee will travel to Ennismore on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop and then host the Chiefs on Sept. 9 at the SPC for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
The games will start to count in the standings when the Raiders open their 30th season of Junior C hockey at home on Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m.
Expectations around the local club are high heading into this year after coming off a record setting 37-2-1 season, only to lose in the first round of the playoffs to the Amherstview Jets. During the off-season they reinforced their already league-best offensive lineup by adding Evan Foley, Cam Harris and Dayton Kent from the Port Hope Panthers for cash.
They’re expected to use these two games to finalize their opening night roster and sort out the last few remaining open slots.
