In a bizarre turn of events, the Napanee Raiders’ season isn’t done just yet.
The PJHL announced Friday afternoon that due to an incorrect ruling made early the Clarington Eagles’ 4-1 win in last night’s Game 5, the results are void and the game must be replayed in its entirety. The Napanee Raiders were handed a bench minor at the start of the game for failing to leave the ice on time after warm ups. While that was a two minute penalty in previous years, that rule had since been dropped.
The Eagles scored 24 seconds into that power-play en route to a 4-1 victory, which would have clinched the series for the Eagles.
Instead the two clubs will now meet tomorrow afternoon in Bowmanville at 4:20 p.m. to replay Game 5. The Eagles still hold a 3-1 series lead.
