Josh Murphy’s resiliency rewarded him with the game winning goal in tonight’s game against the Picton Pirates, as he helped the Napanee Raiders to a 4-1 victory in PJHL action at the Strathcona Paper Centre.

Murphy battled with  a Pirate defender in the corner behind Picton’s net and was able to block a clearing attempt with his skate, take control of the puck and pot the tie breaking goal two minutes into the third period, putting Napanee up 2-1. Riley Steeves added an insurance marker just over three minutes later and Ryan Casselman iced the win with an empty net goal.

Picton held a 1-0 lead after the first period courtesy of Justin Arnold. Griffen Conger responded for Napanee in the second to start the comeback.
Jeremy Piazzi made 44 saves for the win. Napanee has now won three straight to run their record to 3-1.

Napanee heads to Port Hope tomorrow night for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
