Quebec man faces slew of charges after wrong-way trip on 401

A Quebec man faces a slew of charges after driving the wrong way on Hwy 401 near Napanee Thursday evening and causing two collisions upon his exit.

Napanee OPP were alerted at about 6:55 p.m. to the driver travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes near the 576-km mark on the highway.  Police say the driver failed to remain at the scene of the collisions at an unspecified exit.

The driver was arrested by police and taken to hospital for minor injuries. No one else was injured.

The accused was slated for a bail hearing in Napanee court Nov. 2. He was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property valued over $5,000 obtained by crime, fail to comply with probation, and two counts of failure to remain at the scene of an accident.
