Last week with a rise in cases (an outbreak) associated with construction workers, KFL&A Public Health has implemented a surveillance testing initiative beginning Tuesday, May 11. Construction workers in KFL&A are recommended to get asymptomatic testing done once every two weeks at the assessment centre in Kingston. This initiative will be a temporary measure put in place while the region continues to report high levels of COVID-19 activity, especially variants of concern that have a higher transmission rate.
The community assessment centre in Kingston will extend hours of operation on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. to accommodate these workers. A separate booking link has been created for construction workers to book their appointments. This assessment centre is located at the Beechgrove Complex at 51 Heakes Lane (just south of the King Street West/ Portsmouth Avenue intersection).
The continued efforts of individuals and families to follow the public health measures will help lower cases and help our community stay safe until vaccines are available to all.

- Limit trips outside your home to necessities
- Limit your close contact to those in your household
- Stay local and avoid travel outside the KFL&A region
- Stay 2 metres apart from others outside your household
- Wear face coverings and proper personal protective equipment when unable to physically distance whether indoors and outdoors
- Work from home, if possible
- Get tested if you have symptoms of COVID-19
