Premier Ford dissolves Provincial Parliament, election to be held June 2

Premier Doug Ford today confirmed Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, has accepted the premier’s advice to sign a proclamation dissolving the 42nd Parliament of the Province of Ontario.

Pursuant to the provisions of the Election Act, the Lieutenant Governor also called for the issuance of writs for the general election to be issued May 4, 2022 and naming June 2, 2022 as the date of Ontario’s next general election.

Candidates that have been announced to be running in the Hastings-Lennox and Addington riding are:

Ric Bresee-Progressive Conservative Party

Ted Darby-Liberal Party

Eric DePoe-New Democratic Party

Joyce Reid-Ontario New Blue Party

Derek Sloan-Ontario Party

Christina Wilson-Green Party

An all-candidates meeting has been scheduled for May 18 at the Napanee Lion’s Hall, running from 6-8 p.m. The event will not be a debate, instead an opportunity for the candidates in attendance to articulate their party’s plan to build a strong country. Candidates will have an opportunity to answer five pre-submitted questions and will make opening and closing remarks.
