Police say teen driver struck a pedestrian, assaulted a police officer

On July 11 at approximately 9 p.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to disturbance at a home in Greater Napanee.

Investigation revealed that two young people were engaged in a verbal dispute a when a female attempted to leave in a in a vehicle, striking a pedestrian at the scene.  While making the arrest, officers were assaulted.

L&A County OPP have arrested and charged a 17-year-old female from Greater Napanee with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit
  • Assaulting a peace officer
  • Resisting a peace officer
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Taking a motor vehicle without consent
  • Failure to comply with undertaking.

She is also charged with driving while under suspension under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Sept. 14. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

-On July 11 at approximately 2 p.m. officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver travelling eastbound on Hwy 401.

Police located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Hwy 401 near Odessa. As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP have arrested and charged a 37-year-old woman of Scarborough with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit.

The accused was further charged under the Cannabis Control Act with driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Oct. 1. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
