Police respond to report of barricaded person on Dairy Ave., charge suspect with uttering threats

On Dec. 5 at approximately 12:40 p.m., members of the Lennox & Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a person barricaded in an RV on Dairy Avenue in Greater Napanee.

The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), and L&A County OPP officers attended the scene and made contact with the lone male. The male had made previous comments that he had a rifle. Dairy Avenue was shut down to ensure the safety of the public. At 1:01 p.m. police were able to talk the male out of the RV and the male was taken into custody without incident. There was no gun located. The investigation is still ongoing. The road was opened back up shorty after the incident.

As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged a 62-year-old of Kingston, Ontario, with:

  • Uttering death threats

The accused will be held for a bail hearing.
