Police charge three drivers with impaired over the long weekend

Officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three separate drivers with impaired driving over this long weekend.

On Oct. 5 at approximately 2:12 p.m., L&A OPP were dispatched a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver. Officers located the vehicle on Dundas Street West in Greater Napanee. The driver of the vehicle was showing signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 42-year-old of Kingston with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Oct. 24. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days

-On Oct. 5 at approximately 9:31 p.m., L&A OPP officers were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on County Road 41 in Stone Mills Township. Officers attended and located the vehicle. The lone driver of the vehicle was showing signs of impairment and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered. The driver was subsequently arrested.

As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 23-year-old of Belleville with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Oct. 31. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

On Oct. 8 at approximately 1:48 p.m., L&A OPP were on patrol and received a Automatic Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) hit. Officers stopped the vehicle on Shannonville Road in Tyendinaga Township. The driver of the vehicle was showing signs of impairment and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered. The driver was subsequently arrested.

As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 54-year-old of Tyendinaga with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Oct. 31. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
