Police arrest armed suspect near Kaladar

One person is in custody after an incident involving a firearm, south of Kaladar.

On Nov. 12 shortly before 6 a.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report that a car had been damaged in a collision and shots had been fired near a residence on Highway 41 in the area of Raccoon Lake Trail Road. The individual involved had reportedly fled into the forest.

L&A County OPP members, the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) OPP Canine Unit and OPP Aviation Services conducted an intensive search of the area. A suspect was arrested without incident shortly after 10 a.m. There were no injuries reported.

The OPP utilized the Alert Ready emergency system to broadcast a message to all cell phones in the area, as well as through radio and television broadcasts. We would like to remind the public that you must click on the alert message in order to see details, including the specific area involved.

Highway 41 will remain closed for a short time to allow for officers to conduct a follow-up investigation. Further details on the individual arrested and potential charges will be released at a later time.
