Pirates take Game 2 in OT, even series with Napanee Raiders at 1-1

Cole Stevenson scored 4:20 into overtime to lift the Picton Pirates to a 2-1 victory Thursday night, evening their Eastern Tod Division quarter-final series with the Napanee Raiders at 1-1.

Pirates goalie Nick McGrayne made 39 saves for the win, allowing only a Ryan Kidd goal 7:43 into the first period. Picton’s Kirk Stevenson tied the game for the home team with a little under five minutes remaining in the second period.

Napanee nteminder Logan Vale was almost as sharp as his counterpart, allowing just one goal in regulation while finishing with 35 saves on the night.

The two teams will be right back at it tomorrow night when the series returns to Napanee. Puck drop is 7:30 p.m. at the Strathcona Paper Centre. On Sunday they go back to Picton for a 7:30 p.m. start.

Game 5, which will now be necessary, goes Tuesday in Napanee at 8 p.m.
