Petri Street warrant leads to firearm, drug charges

Last Thursday, the OPP street crime units from the Napanee, Prince Edward County, and Frontenac detachments executed a search warrant at  Petri Street residence in Greater Napanee — the second executed warrant at the home since June.

Police located two sawed off shotguns, drugs, and stolen property.

They subsequently charged a 24-year-old female and a 27-year-old male with a litany of criminal offences.

The female suspect is charged with possession of cocaine, marijuana, and heroin for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of opioids for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, assaulting a peace officer, two counts of failing to comply with a firearms prohibition, and failing to comply with a bail order.

The male suspect faces six counts of failing to comply with a firearms prohibition, possession of cocaine, marijuana, and heroin for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of opioids for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of an unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm obtained by crime.

The accused were held at the Napanee OPP detachment overnight before appearing at a bail hearing the next morning in the Ontario Court of Justice.
