Peewee B Crunch win Halloween Havoc

The Napanee Peewee B Crunch captured gold this weekend at the Halloween Havoc Tournament in Cobourg.

They capped off the championship with a 3-1 win over the North Durham Blades. Jocelyn Masters, Nicole Geenevasen and Taryn Landine each had a goal, with Masters adding an assist.

In the semifinal, they blanked the Peterborough Ice Kats 3-0. Meredith Peters earned the shutout while Masters netted a pair of goals with Bri Hunter recording the other. Hunter, Cassandra Clarey and Molly Dafoe had assists.

Their closest game came in their third match when they skated to a 2-1 victory over the West Northumberland Wild. Dafoe and Masters provided the offence with assists from Landine and Nicole Gelinuea. In their second game they blanked Tillsonburg 4-0, with Peters earning her first ever shutout. Stella Sutton, Gelinuea, Dafoe and Masters all found the back of the net. Geenevasen, Skyler McCaw and Dafoe all had helpers.

They opened the tournament with a 6-1 victory over the Blades. Hailey Maracle, Dafoe and Masters each had a goal.

Napanee Stars

Both the Napanee Atom BB Stars and Peewee BB squads lead their divisions of the Eastern Ontario League with perfect 8-0 records. The Atoms defeated Centre Hastings 14-0, with Matthew Airhart, Mason Goodfellow, and Dylan Kemp each earning a hat trick. Coulson South and Carter Slaven both had a pair and Owen Kish netted one.  Aidan Difazio gained the shutout.

* The Peewee BBs topped Loyalist 14-0, and won 5-1 in Tweed, and have scored 85 goals while allowing a minuscule five so far this season. They continue to get goals from several players to maintain consistency.

* The Napanee Joyce Meats Atom AEs were shut out 2-0 by Norwood on Sunday at the SPC to remain in sixth place in the atom league, with a 4-4-1 record.

* The Napanee Peewee AE Calder Automation squad outscored Gananoque 7-6 on a goal by Duncan Clarke with seven seconds left. They split their home-and-home with Campbellford with an 11-8 loss and a 3-2 win. They stand sixth in the peewee league with eight points after nine games. Saturday, at home to Campbellford, they got two goals each from Clark, Nic Comarche, Jayden Holden and Ryan Maracle. The team also thanks Napanee Canadian Tire for continuing support.

* Napanee’s AFW Construction Novice BB squad went 2-2 over the weekend at the Prince Edward County Milk Tournament. MVP awards were given yo Brock Boutilier, Brock Alever, Ethan Nicole and Wyatt Whalen.

* The Bantam and Midget Stars were both in the Cody Hodgson Tournament in Minden.

The bantams reached the final, losing 3-1 to Collingwood. They earned their place in the final with a 3-2 semifinal win over Tweed.

The midgets won gold in their division, edging the host Highland Storm team 2-1.
