OSPCA’s Cupcake Day returns Feb. 26 to raise dough for local animal shelter

Animal lovers are encouraged to get baking for a good cause this month, raising funds for the L&A OSPCA for Feb. 26's Cupcake Day.

Get out those mixing bowls and pre-heat the oven for Cupcake Day for the Ontario SPCA, the sweetest day of the year that raises funds to provide care and shelter for animals in need.

Cupcake Day officially takes place Feb. 26, but bakers can host a cupcake party any time that works for them. They’re encouraged to ask guests to donate to the Ontario SPCA animal centre of their choice in exchange for a cupcake to raise dough for animals in need.

Changing the life of an animal in need is a piece of cake. Register online at cupcakeday.ca, get baking and ask friends and family to donate to a personal fundraising page. Cupcake Day parties can be hosted at home, work, school – anywhere cupcakes will be enjoyed.

As a registered charity that does not receive government funding, the Ontario SPCA depends on the generosity of donors to help animals in need. By taking part in Cupcake Day, participants are providing urgently needed care and shelter for animals waiting to find a loving home.

“If you need a good reason to indulge in cupcakes, it’s Cupcake Day for the Ontario SPCA,” says Stephanie Miller, Vice President of Development, Ontario SPCA and Humane Society. “By registering, sharing cupcakes and fundraising, you are changing the lives of animals who need your help.”
