OPP Seize thousands of cannabis plants in Addington Highlands

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) have seized thousands of cannabis marijuana plants from two locations in Addington Highlands.

CSCU officers, along with members of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit, and the Lennox & Addington County OPP Detachment executed warrants on Aug. 12 at two separate residences in close proximity of one other. One was on Freeburn Road and the other was on Clark Line Road in Addington Highlands Township.

Investigators seized over 5,000 cannabis marihuana plants in total, with a breakdown as follows:

Freeburn Road:

  • Over 4,000 cannabis marijuana plants
  • Four motor vehicles were seized
  • ATV with trailer
  • Equipment such as generators, fertilizer mixers, industrial water pumps
  • Over $13,000 in Canadian currency

Clark Line Road:

  • Over 1,000 cannabis marijuana plants
  • Over $2,000 in Canadian currency

A total of seven people were arrested, including three from Toronto, two from Markham, one from Oshawa and one from Vietnam.

All of the accused have been charged with:

  • Cultivate propagate or harvest more than four cannabis plants
  • Possess proceeds obtained by crime

All accused persons were released on an undertaking and are scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Oct. 20.
