OPP seize 4,000 cannabis plants in Greater Napanee

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit seized nearly 4,000 thousand cannabis plants at two locations in Greater Napanee.

CSCU officers, along with members of the Lennox and Addington OPP Detachment, OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed warrants on Aug. 25 at two adjacent locations on Goodyear Road.

Investigators seized nearly 4,000 cannabis plants, over 500 grams of hashish, nearly $5,000 in Canadian currency, a 22-calibre revolver, a crossbow and a variety of equipment used for production of cannabis, including 2020 pick-up truck and a tractor.

A total of six people were arrested in the area.

Three of the accused have been charged with:

  • Cultivate propagate or harvest more than four cannabis plants
  • Possession of proceeds obtained by crime
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon

The remaining three accused have been charged with:

  • Cultivate propagate or harvest more than four cannabis plants
  • Possession of proceeds obtained by crime

All accused individuals have been released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on Oct. 27.
