OPP seek public’s help to identify pedestrian in Saturday’s fatal 401 collision

OPP forensics have put together a sketch of a man who was struck by a transport while walking along the 401 on Aug. 16. They're seeking the public's help in identifying the man.

The Lennox and Addington County OPP is asking for the public’s help to identify the victim of a fatal collision in the Belleville area.

On Sunday Aug. 16, shortly after 10:30 p.m. OPP members responded to reports of a pedestrian walking on the Highway 401 eastbound lanes near Highway 37. A short time later officers received a report that the pedestrian had entered the roadway and was struck by and eastbound transport truck. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The male was not carrying any identification and investigators have not been able to determine his identity. It is possible the individual was transient and had been traveling through the area.

A sketch of the deceased, created by the OPP Forensic Art Unit, is attached.

The deceased is described as:

  • Approximately 178-cms (5’10”)
  • 60-kgs (132 lbs)
  • Short dark hair
  • Triangle tattoo on the inner right forearm

If you have any information on this man’s identity, or can help the OPP contact his family, please call the Lennox & Addington County OPP Crime Unit at 1-888-310-1122. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can submit a tip through ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
