OPP say driver in single vehicle collision was impaired, in possession of mushrooms

On May 19 at approximately 1 a.m. officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Bridge Street in Greater Napanee. The pick-up truck was resting in the south ditch on Bridge Street just east of Oliver Side Road. The lone driver was uninjured and police determined that they were showing signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 29-year-old of Greater Napanee with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit.

The driver was further charged with possession of a schedule III substance (mushrooms) contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on July 21. The accused person’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

-On May 18 at approximately 8 a.m. officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP were on general patrol and observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Hwy 401 westbound in Tyendinaga Township. Police initiated a traffic stop and found the diver to be showing signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 24-year-old Kingston man contrary to the Criminal Code with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and refusal to comply with breath demand.

The driver was further charged with stunt driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

-On May 19 at approximately 10 p.m. officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Lake Road in Stone Mills Township. The vehicle was traveling northbound when it lost control and came to rest in the ditch on its side.   The lone driver was uninjured and police determined that they were showing signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 27-year-old man from of Verona contrary to the Criminal Code with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on July 7. The accused person’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
