On July 31 at approximately 4 p.m., officers of the Highway Safety Division (HSD) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a high-end sports car travelling at a high rate of speed on Hwy 401 eastbound from the Quinte West area.  Multiple complaints were received about the manner that the vehicle was being operated.

Police located the vehicle on Hwy 401 near Odessa and initiated a traffic stop. Officers seized both the licence plates and the vehicle as part of the investigation.

On 18 August, OPP HSD arrested a 49-year-old of Brampton and a 31-year-old of York Region. Both people have been charged with:

Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

One of the accused was also charged with using plates not authorized for the vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Both accused were released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Oct. 12, 2021.
