OPP recover illegal drugs, weapons from house on Deseronto’s Main Street

A search warrant was executed at a home on Deseronto’s Main Street on Monday, leading to six arrests and the recovery of illegal drugs and weapons. 

The warrant was carried out by the Ontario Provincial Police East Region Community Street Crime Unit, assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team.

Police seized a quantity of suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, along with cash, firearms, brass knuckles, a controlled energy weapon and airsoft pistols.

Arrested was a 40-year-old woman, 23-year-old man, 18-year-old man, all residents of Deseronto, A 22-year-old man of Stone Mills Township and an 18-year-old of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. They have all been charged under the Criminal Code with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited device for a dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking.

A 17-year old faces the same charges, but cannot be identified under the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The accused have been released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee at various dates in July.
