OPP lay several impaired charges over the long weekend

Members of the Lennox and Addington OPP were busy over the holiday weekend, charging four drivers in impaired driving related investigations.

On June 30 at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint on Belleville Road in Tyendinaga Township.

Officers conducted a traffic stop, and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result a 42-year-old of Napanee was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On July 1 at approximately 12:15 a.m., officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Jim Kimmett Boulevard in Greater Napanee.

Officers attended the location and spoke to the driver. As part of the investigation, an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered, and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result a 27-year-old of Napanee was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Also on July 1, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint on Hwy 401 eastbound in Tyendinaga Township.

Officers conducted a traffic stop, and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result a 32-year-old of Tyendinaga First Nation, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while under suspension – Two Counts

On July 4 at approximately 12:30 p.m., officers were on general patrol when they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for Highway Traffic Act offences.

As part of the investigation, an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered, and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result a 54-year-old of Tweed was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol –
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive – hand held communication device
  • Driver fail to properly wear seat belt
  • Fail to surrender insurance card

All accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee at a later date. Their licences were suspended for 90 days, and vehicles were impounded for seven days.
