One man is in police custody and another woman is at-large following an incident in Napanee Sunday.
According to the OPP, officers from the Napanee detachment responded to a report of a robber shortly after 5 p.m. on Robert Street. Police said that the victim and her boyfriend were walking down the street when a man and a woman — both of which were known to the victim — pulled up beside them in a black Jeep Patriot.
Police said the man and woman exited the vehicle and allegedly assaulted the victim by ripping her purse from her shoulder and stealing items from within. It’s also alleged that the man was holding a weapon at the time of the incident.
On Wednesday at 2:55 p.m., the OPP arrested a 37-year-old man from Napanee, Corey Maxwell, and charged him with robbery, assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. The accused is scheduled to appear in court today for a bail hearing at provincial court in Napanee
A warrant for arrest remains in effect for a 43-year-old woman from Greater Napanee, Shelly Barcier, for robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order
