Old Hay Bay Church opens for the season this Saturday

The historic Hay Bay Church, built in 1792.

On Saturday May 18, the doors will open to the public at Old Hay Bay Church, at 2365 South Shore Road, Greater Napanee.  The “meeting house” will be open daily from 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and we welcome all visitors. Become part of “meeting house’s” history. Visitors can leave their mark by signing the guest book, and making a purchase of books and/or souvenirs. Admission is by donation and tax receipts are available.

There are picnic tables for lunch, and parking space for the tour bus. Those who wish to book time for a tour, family reunion, wedding can call 613-373-2261 or contact through their website www.oldhaybaychurch.ca or like them on Facebook.

They are proud to show off our new displays and research area. Perhaps guests will have a link to the church, its proud founders or families struck with tragedy with the drownings in 1819. Maybe they are a descendent of ministers who worshipped here, or some of the local families who worked hard to re-purchase the church and restore it.

So many people have contributed to the doors being open on this National, Provincial and Municipal historic site. Volunteers have held responsible positions as custodians, and trustees. Many people and organizations that have contributed to make the church what it is today.
