No injuries as OPP, Greater Napanee Fire respond to fully engulfed semi truck on Hwy 401

The Lennox and Addington OPP, attended a semi truck fire on Hwy 401 westbound on Wednesday morning.

On Dec. 27 shortly before noon, the L&A County OPP was on patrol and spotted a semi truck parked on the side of the road on fire. The semi truck was parked on the shoulder of Hwy 401 Westbound at Switzerville Road.

When police arrived on the scene the semi truck was already engulfed in flames and the driver was safe and uninjured standing along the highway. There was no collision, the semi truck had just pulled over to the side of the road. Police shut down Hwy 401 westbound at County Road 4 to Switzerville Road.

At 12:49 p.m. one lane was reopened as emergency crews worked to remove the vehicle. At 2:42 p.m. Highway 401 westbound was fully reopened to traffic. No charges were laid.
