Centreville’s Fairgrounds will feel more like downtown Nashville on Aug. 8-11, as the Newburgh-Camden Lion’s Club hosts their 10th annual Classic Country Music Festival.
Over 15 country acts are scheduled to take the stage during the four day event, covering a wide range of country music styles and eras.
Kiley Joe Masson, White Brothers, Grassy Fiddle Time and Bowes Brothers are just some of the headlining acts of the festival, which also includes a farmer’s market, silent auction, vendors, canteen and fish fry dinner on the Saturday.
Entering its 10th year, this event projects to be the biggest one yet.
“It’s grown slowly, but it’s grown each year,” said Victor Smith, member of the Newburgh-Camden Lion’s Club and event organizer.
Amateurs and those looking to gain some stage experience will also have the opportunity to perform.
“Thursday (Aug. 8) is all open mic night and we’ve opened it up to the public,” said Smith. “We had a lot of different people asking if they could get on the open mic, so we decided to lengthen it and go with a full open mic night and there’s an early one on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. before the main entertainment comes on.”
Those looking to attend all four days can camp on site for a cost of $70. Walk in admission is $10 for the Thursday open mic, $20 for the Friday and Saturday ($15 after 5 p.m.) and $5 for Sunday. Volunteers from both the Newburgh-Camden Lion’s Club and the Napanee Lion’s Club will be working together to make the event happen.
“All of our money raised stays local,” said Smith, noting the money goes to the Lion’s Club. “Anything we raise is spent locally on one of our local projects.”
