NDSS Golden Hawk long-distance runner Jack Gregory has re-written KASSAA track and field history, establishing three records in two days at the Kingston region high school meet held Wednesday and Thursday.
Gregory completed the 800 metre race in a time of two minutes and five seconds, breaking a KASSAA record that has stood since 2008. He ran the 1,500 metre in a time of four minutes and 18 seconds, which also toppled a record set in 2008. He capped off his incredible track meet by running the 3,000 metre in nine minutes and 26 seconds, breaking the mark that has stood since 2012. His 3,000 metre run was almost a full minute ahead of his second closest competitor, Cailan McGregor who finished with a time of 10:24.
Gregory was one of 11 Golden Hawks to take home KASSAA medals and advance to EOSSAA.
Also finishing in the top three in their disciplines were: Max Morrisey, first in both discus and shot put, Finlay Paul, first in 400 metre, Riley Bird-Lyman, first in 100 metre and third in shot put, Meg Millar, second in pole vault, Sophie Donnan, second in pole vault, Sadie Lupton, second in long jump, Nara Rickard, second in 80 metre hurdles, Isaac Phin-Donaldson, second in 400 metre hurdles and third in 110 metre hurdles, Katie Buchan, second in 3,000 metre, third in both 1,500 metre and 800 metre and Isaac Hayes, third in 100 metre hurdles.
EOSSAA’s track and field competition will be held May 25-26 in Cornwall and Brockville.
