The NDSS girls’ hockey team’s run to an OFSAA title ended with an overtime loss to the Holy Cross Raiders in the quarterfinals, taking place in Stratford.

Napanee held a 2-1 lead after the opening frame before the Raiders, based out of St. Catharines, rallied to tie in in the second.

That 2-2 score held through the final period and remained in place for overtime, which was a four-on-four format.

The Raiders completed the win after an initial shot from just inside the Hawks zone was blocked but quickly scooped up by a Raider player out front and flipped into the net.

For Napanee it was their lone loss of the tournament, going 1-1-2 in their four games. Ultimately it was a costly one however in the win-or-go-home playoff format, as the Raiders advance to tomorrow’s semifinals.
