NDSS Golden Hawks Jr. football team punches ticket to KASSAA playoffs

The NDSS Golden Hawks junior boys took care of business on Thursday, winning 25-7 over the Bayridge Blazers at Kingston’s Invista Centre.

Napanee entered the game, which was also the final match of the KASSAA regular season, in need of a win in order to qualify for the playoffs. They responded to keep their season alive, advancing to the KASSAA quarterfinals, which will take place next Wednesday. The victory gave Napanee a 2-4 record on the season, allowing them to clinch the sixth and final playoff seed.

Touchdowns were scored by Josh McNamee, Connor Birney and Nate Gifkins. McNamee also added three kicks and a convert.

The Hawks will await the results of today’s KASSAA league games at Regi and Holy Cross to determine who will be their first round opponent. The Hawks will be the road team regardless of their opponent.

-NDSS’ senior boys volleyball team defeated the Kingston Secondary Bears in four sets on Thursday for their fourth straight win.

Napanee is 8-2 on the year, holding the third seed as they get set for next week’s playoffs.
