Napanee District Secondary School closed the books on the school year by saluting the graduating class of 2023 at the Strathcona Paper Centre.

Each graduating student was celebrated for their accomplishment of completing their Ontario high school diploma, a feat made all the more challenging due to the pandemic impacting three of their four or five years.

Special mention was made to 10 of the top academic students which included:

It is worth noting the significance of this last award. The Governor General’s Academic Medal was first awarded in 1873 and has since become one of the most prestigious awards that a student in a Canadian educational institution may receive. Medals are awarded for academic excellence at four levels, one of those being the secondary school level for the student from the graduating class with the highest average in all Grade 11 and 12 courses. She also receives Subject Awards of Excellence in Food and Nutrition, Society Challenge and Change, Calculus and Vectors, Advanced Functions, and Data Management
