NDSS’ alpine team has had an exceptional season on the slopes to date, medaling as both individual athletes and as a unit.
After strong showings at both the KASSAA and EOSSAA championships, the Hawks are now set send their top athletes to the all-Ontario high school championships known as OFSAA, with the alpine championships set to be held Feb. 27-28 in Collingwood and the snowboarding championships held March 1 in Duntroon.
As a team, the NDSS boys snowboarders, made up of Jaydin Barkley, Carter Morris, Morgan Lyman and Taven Haller, finished third overall at the KASSAA finals.
Barkley went on to capture EOSSAA snowboarding gold at Renfrew’s Calabogie Peaks on Feb. 17. Earlier at the KASSAA championships he finished sixth.
Liam Lamont was second overall in the men’s open snowboarding division at EOSSAA, Corbin Holmes won bronze, Owen Rankin finished fourth and Ben Layfield placed fifth.
NDSS snowboarder Lindsay Davis won silver at KASSAA and then finished eighth at EOSSAA, which qualified her for OFSSAA.
NDSS alpine skier Callum Moore earned gold at KASSAA and went on to finish third at EOSSAA.
Ollie Dupuis also qualified for EOSSAA after a strong showing at the KASSAA meet.
