A chance to cross those last few names off the holiday gift list while having some fun and helping a worthy cause-that’s what Downtown Napanee’s Late Night Shopping Party on Dec. 16 is all about.

Back for a 15th year, the party runs from 4-8 p.m., this year extending from Dundas Street to Market Square.

“There are in store events, some people are planning entertainment, draws, there’s music, there’s carolers,” explains Tiffany Lloyd, event spokesperson. “All of those things are the same as every other year. What makes this year a little bit special is that DJ Mike will be playing in Market Square around the campfire, along with Hitched Games and the Cauldron Sisters. There’s going to be a huge event right in Market Square which is great because there’s some fantastic new businesses in the Market Square area that we want shoppers to visit.”

For many of the downtown merchants, the Shopping Party accounts for their biggest night of the year-and serves as a great way to encourage people to shop local.

As shoppers are out and about, they’re asked to stuff the Gibbard District truck, which will be parked on Dundas Street, with non-perishable food items for Morningstar Mission.

“We’re asking for non-perishable items for the food bank, but on top of that the Cauldron Sisters are collecting Christmas backpacks,” said Lloyd. “The list of items that they’re requesting is on Morningstar Mission’s Facebook page.”

Updates on the participating businesses will be posted to the Downtown Napanee 15th Annual Late Night Shopping Party Facebook event page.

“So many people are saying this is the most magical night of the year downtown,” said Lloyd. “Whether you’re Christmas shopping or you’re shopping for yourself or you’re just getting a hot chocolate and wandering around under the Big Bright Lights, there’s something about the atmosphere that is just so special and so magical.”
