Napanee bodybuilder Ashley Lough has qualified for the national stage after placing first in two divisions at the Cobourg Naturals-Vaughn Edition.

Lough earned first in the 35+ Masters Figure Division and the Overall Masters Figure Champion Title as well as first in the Open Figure Division and the Overall Figure Champion Title.

Judges select the winners based on criteria established by the Canadian Physique Alliance, looking for things such as a small degree of muscularity with separation, no visible striations, overall muscle tone with shapely lines and a healthy appearance. During the judging the first round sees the competitors walk to the centre of the stage and perform a quarter turn to the judges. In the comparison round, competitors wear a two-piece swimsuit and heels.

Her first place finish advances her to the Natural Pro Qualifier, which will take place Aug. 5 in Toronto, where she will compete to become an IFBB (International Fitness and Bodybuilding) Pro.
