Napanee U18 Stars reach finals of South Muskoka tournament

In their first tournament of the season, the Napanee Under 18 Stars finished second in South Muskoka, losing to Riverside Rangers of the Windsor area 3-2 in the finals. Earlier, they were edged 2-1 by the same Riverside Rangers. Saturday, facing Pembroke, they were victorious 5-2, and later came on strong 3-1 over Dorchester Dragons from the London area. Needing a win on Sunday morning to reach the finals, they squeaked by winless Pelham 3-2. It was a strong start to begin the season.

-The Under 15 Stars breezed by Tweed 12-1 in their first league road game. They led by seven after one, and coasted from there. Nine different Stars tallied, including three by Wyatt Albright, and two by Ben Kerr.
At home, they hosted Centre Hastings, winning 6-1. Lucas Asselstine put them on the board, and Wesley Davy made it 2-0 in the first, as the locals outshot their opponents 17-3. The Norwood goalie was outstanding however. In the second, the onslot continued, Napanee having a 24-3 shot advantage. Wesley Davey, Kerr, Kohen Cutler, and Callen Wilson tallied in the second frame. The Madoc boys got one by Napanee’s Jackson Godfrey in the third before Devin Robinson rounded out the scoring.

-`The U-13 squad had a solid start in league play, defeating Centre Hastings 12-0. Jacob Lyons got the winner, and Quinn McConnell added two before the first period ended. They added six more in the second, and three in the third. The other goal scorers were Lyons (his second), Quinn McConnell (for the hat trick), Maddux Hartwick (two), Chase Castagnier,, Kegan York (two), Grayson Rowe, and Liam Mulder.
