With enough talent to field two competitive rosters, Softball Napanee sent two U13 Express boys teams-Red and Blue-to the OASA East Qualifier this weekend in Springbrook.

Napanee Red walked away with the win at the provincial qualifier, posting a perfect 4-0 record.

Red opened the weekend with a 11-8 win over Havelock followed by a 21-2 win over Peterborough. In meeting with their Blue counterparts, Red came away with the 11-1 win to advance to the finals, defeating Springbrook 13-0.

Austin Reynolds and Aiden Lollar went to work on the mound all weekend, with Lollar only allow four runs against him all weekend and Reynolds throwing a no hitter in the team’s final game on Sunday.

On the offensive side of the ball, Nate Thompson led the team with 11 RBIs. which proved to stand out in what was a full team effort for a red hot offence over the entire four games.

Napanee Red is excited to attack the A side of the Provincial Tournament that will be held early August in Tara.

Napanee Red is coached by Ryan Reynolds with Joe Thompson, Lauri Brown and Mike Coles.

Napanee’s Blue Express boys fought hard and played four great games of ball battling through some tough baseball luck.

Napanee’s weekend got rolling with a 10-2 win over Peterborough before coming up short in a 4-2 loss to Springbrook. On Sunday they again came up just short in a 7-4 loss to Havelock.

Although the final results were not what they wanted, the team is now gearing up to set their sights on the B division side of the provincial tournament.

The Blue team had strong pitching performances by Maddux Hartwick and Grayson Rowe and the offence was lead by strong showings from Nicholas Harris, Noah Raycroft and Chase Castagnier.

The Express Blue team is coached by Ryan Rowe with Chris Hartwick, Scott Piontek and Dave Hoy.

Both teams will now get set for the provincial championships, held Aug. 12-13 in Tara.
