The Desjardin Insurance U13 Napanee Stars continued their winning ways to remain perfect in league play. In Douro they sailed past their hosts 10-2 before returning home for an 8-1 shellacking of Tweed. William Babcock started things off in the opening minute converting a 2-on-1. Liam Mulder got the winning a couple minutes later on a similar play. Ben Kerr added four more, while Cal Wilson got the other one. Shots favoured Napanee 17-1. The game was called after two periods when the visiting coach developed health issues.
-The Napanee U18s, fresh off their tournament win in Minden, earned a 2-0 shutout over Brighton on Saturday night, and in Douro, the boys came out strong to win 10-1. Next, they are off to Stirling for the Milk Tournament this coming weekend.
-In Cobourg, the Napanee U11 Tomlinson Group Stars won the U11 A Regional Silver Stick Tournament. Napanee edged Kanata 4-3 in the Final. Earlier they controlled both North Durham and Northumberland by identical 6-1 scores, and shutout the Kanata Blazers 5-0.
-The Tomlinson Group U13 AE team continued to struggle, having to play up a division, taking it on the chin 6-1 Saturday facing Stirling. Jacob Lyons got the Stars’ lone goal early in the second as he broke in alone. Shots favoured their guests 37-12 as both goalies, Ethan Sambrasky-Nichols and Nathan Zwiers alternated between the posts. On Sunday, they fell 8-3 to Lakefield, also at the Strathcona Paper Centre.
