Napanee Stars report: local teams pick up victories before season is paused

Napanee Minor hockey teams played games on the road, before Greater Napanee closed the Strathcona Paper Centre on Friday until further notice to ensure the health and safety of everyone.

-The Desjardin Insurance U13 Napanee Stars were again solid 11-1 winners in Tweed on Friday. Colton Lockridge got the first of two early in the game, and Ben Kerr put it away with the winner half way through the first frame. Cooper Seaton also had a pair, with singles tallied by Brayden Hartwick, Will Babcock, Wes Davey, Jack Sutton, Liam Mulder, and Brock Boutilier.

-The U15 Stars had to come from behind in Wellington to win 6-3 facing Prince Edward County. Already trailing three minutes into the game, Jason Cox evened things at 1-1. Trailing 3-1, the locals again turned to Cox to get them close heading into the third. Devin Robinson, Tie Wood with a pair, and Scott Scrimshaw gave them lots of offence in the third period to pull off the win.

-In Picadilly, the U18 Stars also needed to come from behind against a formidable Frontenac squad for their second tie result, this time 3-3. Each team scored twice in the first period- Spencer Cranley and Ethan Martin doing the damage for the Stars. Midway in the second, Zered Haller tallied to match their hosts at three, which is how it ended. Napanee leads the league with a 11-0-2 record, tied with Frontenac which has a 9-0-6 record.
