Napanee Stars enter regular season home stretch

With the last week of league play looming, the Napanee U18 Stars edged Prince Edward County 5-4 in the dying seconds of the game. Owen Gibson fired a shot on net on the power play, and Luc Amat slapped in the rebound with 27 seconds remaining. They trailed twice in the game, but goals by Austin Catena (two), Spencer Cranley, and an earlier Amat tally had kept it close. Goalie Sam Rickard was solid, with shots favouring the locals 34-17.

-The U15s travelled to Amherstview to defeat Loyalist 6-1. Scoring for the Stars were Coulson South, Dylan Kemp, Tie Wood, Blake Wood, Carter Slaven, and Mitchel Turner. Their record is 14-2, with three games remaining.

-The Desjardin Insurance U-13 squad had an easy time in Brighton winning 9-1. William Babcock and Colton Lockridge each had hat tricks, while Zac Wilde, Wes Davey, and Ben Kerr tallied singles. On Monday, they coasted past Norwood 9-0, and outshooting their guests 41-4. After defeating Stirling 7-4 earlier, they continue to lead the U-13 Eastern Ontario League.

-The U-11 Tomlinson Group remain first in their league standings after a 16-0 drubbing of Tweed. Maddux Hartwick scored four times, but it was a balanced attack with ten different marksmen able to score. On Family Day, in Stirling, Hartwick saved the day, scoring with 38 seconds remaining for a 3-2 win. As well, Brock Gunter tallied along with Hartwick’s earlier goal.

-The Conger’s Plumbing U-13 AE Stars lost a heart-breaker in Wellington 2-1 with 2:24 remaining to play. Jadon McNamee got the only goal for the locals in their road game in Prince Edward County. Facing Gananoque, at home, they lost 7-0 on Sunday.
