Napanee Salvation Army at risk of falling short of Kettle Campaign goal

Beaver Staff

Napanee’s Salvation Army is seeking more volunteers for their kettle campaign as they are projected to fall short of their goal for the season.

As of Saturday, Dec. 7 they have raised $16,850 at the kettles.  The list of active volunteers to attend the kettles is a short one as many of the contact phone numbers from last year’s campaign are either inaccurate or out-of-date.  Anyone who would like to volunteer can contact Penny Byrnes at 613-329-6139 or 613-354-7633.

Saturday, Dec. 21 is Walmart’s Match the Kettle Day.  On that day, Walmart will match donations placed in the kettles at their stores across Canada to a maximum of $100,000, and Boyer Chevrolet Buick GMC Corvette in Napanee has pledged to match donations made at the kettles at their dealership throughout the campaign.

This week homes throughout Napanee’s service area will receive the local Christmas Appeal letter which provides residents with another way to support The Salvation Army’s work in the community by mailing in a donation.  It is the Salvation Army’s goal to raise $100,000 through the Kettle Campaign and the Christmas Letter Appeal, and the funds raised through these simultaneous campaigns will be used to help people in our community.  All donations of $20 or more will receive a tax receipt if the donor provides us with his or her name and address.
