For a second game in a row the Napanee Raiders posted a dozen goals, picking up a 6-2 road win against the Trent Hills Thunder in Jr. C hockey action on Sunday.
Andrew Carr ignited the scoring with a short-handed goal just three minutes into the game, his first of two on the afternoon. Michael Patrick followed just over four minutes after to double the Raider lead, also the first of two he’d wind up tallying.
Spencer Cranley and Jackson Barnes each added one for Napanee to round out the scoring.
That was more than enough for Denholm Blair, who picked up the win in net with 26 saves, giving him an even 10 wins in 12 games played this season.
Napanee outshot the Thunder 48-28 in the game.
The victory once again has Napanee leading the pack in the PJHL’s East Tod Division with a record of 27-7-1 and 54 points. That’s two points ahead of the Frankford Huskies, who are 27-8 on the year, holding a game in hand over Napanee. The Picton Pirates are in third with 51 points in 37 of 42 games played, one fewer than Napanee has left remaining.
Napanee will face those Pirates on Friday when they welcome them to the Best and Bash Arena for a 7:30 p.m. start.
Napanee will look to wrap up a very productive month of January in that game, so far collecting 17 of 18 possible points in the new year.
