Napanee OPP warns motorists of speed limit reductions

The Napanee OPP is advising the public to be aware that two speed limit changes within Lennox and Addington County are now in effect.

The entirety of Salmon River Road is now posted at 60 kilometres per hour, reduced from 80, due to a consideration for the road’s engineering and an increase in population.

Also, County Rd. 6 in the Amherstview area has been reduced to 60 kilometres per hour from County Rd. 23 (Taylor-Kidd Boulevard) to Hwy 33.  The County approved the change upon request from Loyalist Township due to an expanded residential area, increased population, and safety at the Amherst Drive intersection.

Throughout the summer, police say they will continue to promote safety on local roads by enforcing speed and the “big four” causes of injuries and fatalities: impaired driving, aggressive driving, distracted driving, and seatbelt compliance.
