Napanee OPP and the Community Street Crime unit of Napanee, Frontenac and Prince Edward executed a controlled drugs and substances act search warrant at a residence on Palace Road in Napanee last Thursday and recovered quite a haul of illegal substances and stolen property.

Officers seized methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, hydromorphone, scales and packaging material. Police also located property with a value exceeding $5,000, which had been reported from a commercial break and enter earlier that day. Some of the seized property included a generator, welder, battery charger, air compressor and numerous tools.

Police also located personal identification that had been reported stolen from a victim’s vehicle back in June.

Three suspects, aged 54, 43 and 34, have been charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannabis, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession of an identity document.

All three were held to appear for a bail hearing at provincial court in Napanee.

Thursday’s bust was deemed another success for the recently formed Napanee OPP Community Street Crime Unit. Some of the material reported stolen belonged to the Greater Napanee Public Works department and was recovered in less than 24 hours.

“I want all those who are involved in property crime and the trafficking of narcotics to know we will be aggressively seeking to apprehend those who choose to victimize our community,” Napanee OPP detachment commander Insp. Scott Semple said in a release. “I have zero tolerance for this behaviour and have made it a priority for all our officers.”

Semple also noted among the property recovered was a smart TV and cautioned anyone who purchases goods well below their retail value may well be buying stolen property. He encouraged anyone approached with an offer to buy stolen materials to contact the Napanee OPP.
