Napanee man charged with impaired driving after striking hydro pole, attempting to flee on foot

On June 8 at approximately 7:15 p.m. officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Belleville Road and Thomas Street West in Greater Napanee.  A vehicle hit a hydro pole and then drove away. Officers located the vehicle a short time later on Bridge Street. Officer conducted a traffic stop and the driver fled on foot. A suspect was arrested moments later.

A Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted and the individual was transported to the L&A County Detachment for further testing.

A 41-year-old man of Greater Napanee has been charged under the Criminal Code with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

The accused was further charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with:

  • Failing to remain at the scene of an accident
  • Careless driving

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Aug. 4. The accused person’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

-On June 6 at approximately 7:30 p.m. officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver travelling on an all-terrain vehicle on Hwy 41 southbound. A Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) officer pulled the vehicle over and police attended to investigate.

As a result of the investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 55-year-old man from Consecon, with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs; and
  • Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on July 7. The accused’s driver licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

-On June 6 at approximately 11:15 p.m. officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver at a local business off of Centre Street in Greater Napanee.

As a result of the investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 38-year-old of Greater Napanee contrary to the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Aug. 11. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
