Napanee BIA to hold off on appointing board members

The Downtown Napanee BIA will hold off on appointing any new board members for the time being.

In a message to BIA members on Wednesday afternoon, council rep Bob Norrie said no new board members will be appointed until after they have an in-person general meeting can be held.
“With the present COVID pandemic, unknown variances of the strain and confusion of the vaccine rollout, myself and Mrs. (Doris) Lucas have decided we will hold off on any appointments to the board,” Norrie wrote. “Some operations will still go ahead, flowers for the downtown were ordered last month and Mrs. Lucas will be organizing that. We will still go ahead with working with the town in regards to student applications.”

Norrie and Lucas are currently the only members of the board following a number of resignations last week. The BIA had put out a call for volunteers to apply to the board in the hopes they could be appointed at the Feb. 9 council meeting.
