Quinte Detention Centre staff members will lace up their skates and take on the Montreal Canadiens Alumni in a fun exhibition game for a good cause on Nov. 19 at the SPC.
Proceeds from the game will go to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. Tickets will go on sale in Sept. 5 with general admission and VIP tickets which will include access to a pregame tailgate, the game and the post game autograph session with the Habs and Quinte correctional officers after the game. The Original Hockey Hall of Fame will be there showing their Habs artefacts and also the Provincial Corrections Recruiting Unit will be there to provide information about a career in corrections.
“We’re very happy and even more excited to put together this game and play against the Habs Alumni,” says Quinte correctional officer Fraser MacAlpine. “For our officers, this is the closest anyone will get to play an NHL team and we won’t take it for granted and for a good cause. We will put on a show for everyone that comes to watch.”
The Habs Alumni are no stranger to the area. In 2017, they were at the SPC against the Napanee Raiders 1993 alumni and won 7-6, and in 2018 when they played the Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni at the CAA Arena in Belleville.
