Minor injuries for pedestrian hit by truck in Napanee

A pedestrian suffered minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Centre Street and Dundas Street on Friday afternoon.

Investigation by the Lennox and Addington OPP revealed the driver was travelling northbound on Centre street in a pick-up truck and the vehicle struck the female pedestrian while turning westbound onto Dundas Street. The female pedestrian was taken to hospital by ambulance and later released after being treated for minor injuries.  

A 62 year old female, of Greater Napanee was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.

-Also on Friday officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP initiated an investigation into a tractor trailer that was parked on the side of the 401 eastbound at the Shannonville off ramp. 

Investigation revealed that the driver was showing signs of impairment however was not registering as consuming alcohol in the Approved Screening Device. A Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) officer assisted with the investigation and determined that the male driver failed the SFST test.  

As a result of the investigation L&A OPP have charged the driver a 61 year old male, of Tiverton, with operating a motor vehicle while impaired, and failing to comply with the demand under the Criminal Code.  

The accused had his licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. The accused arrested and released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on May 7.
