It was near disaster at Napanee’s Rotary Park Splash Pad on Saturday afternoon when a large pole came toppling down just a few feet from where kids were playing.

The approximately 15 foot pole pole, which is designed to spin while spouting water, was being spun by a young boy when it suddenly came unattached to the ground and fell towards the middle of the splash pad. Fortunately it missed a group of young kids playing on the other side of the splash pad.

More to come.
