McFarland, MacNeil earn President’s Award at Raiders’ year end banquet

The Napanee Raiders officially wrapped up their 35th Junior C hockey season with their annual year-end banquet, held July 6 at the SPC.

The event was a chance to look back on a successful campaign that saw them capture the Tod Division title while also hand out some awards and bid farewell to their four overagers.

Marshall McFarland and Erik MacNeil were presented with the President’s Award for their dedication, leadership and excellence.

McFarland also earned the George Magold Memorial as best teammate.

MacNeil additionally took home the McGreer Family Award as the top defenceman.

Reid Lambert was given the Harold Webster Memorial for his leadership on the ice and in the community.

Andrew Carr and Blake Aylesworth shared the Howard Sweet Memorial as most sportsmanlike.

Goaltender Logan Vale captured the Lakins Memorial as the top rookie.

Ben White, Christos Chronis, Jackson Barnes and Connor Brooks were awarded the Judy Jarmin Memorial for outstanding contributions as both ends of the rink.

The Earl Morrison Cup, named for the late publisher of the Napanee Beaver and given to a hardest working player who receives the least amount of press, was shared between Michael Patrick and Luke Jarmin.

Cameron Krupa was the team’s leading scorer in the regular season while White and MacNiel were tied as top playoff scorers.

McFarland, Krupa, Ben Carter and Ben Chubbs were also celebrated as overagers.

A special presentation was also made to former president Morris Hart from Sandra Beaubien as the winner of the inaugural Bill Beaubien Award for Executive/Volunteer of the Year.

In other team news, the club announced their annual Alumni Golf Classic will be taking place Aug. 24 at the Napanee Golf and Country Club. To reserve a spot, call 343-263-4696.
